THE NEW SEASON

So we are open to a marvellous start with the Land Pirates and lots of entertainment for Easter Sunday and Monday. It was such a successful weekend and we did enjoy ourselves so much. It is as if we get too shut away over the winter time in front of the television. Everyone was rushing about and really having fun.

The Castle seems to really love visitors and the daffodils made the scenery even more spectacular over the beautiful green valley of the River Dove below the castle.

For history buffs there is movement now towards publishing our findings about the British Museum 5 year Dig and research project held here at the castle. I am also delighted to announce that there is to be a significant exhibition about Tutbury Castle at The British Museum on 9th. July and runs to January 2010. I am sure you will appreciate what an honour it is to have such an exhibition and this demonstrates how very important the findings have been about Tutbury Castle previously hidden in the strata and documents of the past.

There are so many wonderful events planned here at the castle as well as the lazy quiet days for a family picnic on the grass at the height of summer we all long for.

The castle will now be open each Wednesday through to Sunday from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm with last admission at 4 pm. Entrance fees are £4.50 for adults and £4.00 for concessions and children under 12. There is now a car parking fee of £1.00 per car and 50p for motorbikes. However, regular visitors will know that the entrance fee has not been increased for 3 years at the current rate. Bank Holidays mean the castle is open on the Sunday and Monday of that week.

Have fun
